Food project

I have decided to stop going to the store to fulfill each little cooking whim I have.

Instead, I am posing myself a challenge: Eat only what is in the fridge, freezer or cupboard until my fridge gets cleared out.

I am not including fruits and veggies in this endeavor because I don't know how long it will take - and eating month old lettuce does not appeal to me.

For lunch I had the following ingredients to work with:

Broccoli
Carrot
Ground turkey
Past shells
Gruyere cheese
Spaghetti sauce

This is what I came up with:

Turkey and veggie stuffed shells.

I browned some ground turkey with some minced garlic and then I threw in some chopped up broccoli florets and one shredded carrot.

I ended up adding in some shredded Gruyere cheese.

I threw the pasta shells into boiling, salted water for six minutes.

The shells stuffed to the brim!

Sauced and ready to go into the oven.
The pan went into a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. The ingredients were all cooked already and I just wanted it to heat through.

I think it turned out really well.

The dogs thought so too because they got to split one of the shells :-)

So brace yourself for odd meals ahead as I eat down my pantry and fridge.

  1. Excellent concept! (and those shells don't look too shabby, either!)

  2. That goal is interesting, I will look forward to see what you come up with. The first meal here looks pretty tasty. Sometimes having just a few ingredients on hand can inspire you to have some winning combinations. Yum-thanks for sharing.
