I feel like Jackie O

I did my run in Central Park!!!

What was meant to be a leisurely 3 mile run turned into a 7.5 mile run because I have zero sense of direction and I ended up running in loops. But it was no matter because I had tons of company for the whole run.

In addition to the buckets of runners there were lots of people exercising their dogs.

I entered the park at 5th ave and ran through most of the park to get to the Jackie O reservoir.

It really is a great running path - it has a dirt/sand surface that is easy on the knees.

To back track a bit - I woke up at around 5:45 am because I was so excited about running in Central Park - I know, I am a goof.

Since I had to wait for the sun to come up before I could head out, I ordered a quick breakfast:

A poached egg and crispy hash browns.

Coffee

I did discover some surprising things on my run.

I had no idea that there was a zoo in Central Park - a really teeny tiny zoo but a zoo nonetheless.

The seal pool - Yes, there were seals in there
There are statues and surprising touches all throughout the park such as this:

It is a statue of a crouching panther and it sits on top of a boulder that is right beside the running path. It really looks like it is ready to pounce:-)

And I found places that I would not dare to go even in broad daylight with lots of people around:

Happy Wednesday!

Sandwiches, Central Park and running bras

I ordered new running shoes for my trip. I expected them to arrive while I was in Massachusetts (I had them shipped to the hotel) but the shipment was delayed and they arrived after I left.

The hotel was happy to send them to me via FedEx to my hotel in NYC. Supposedly they went out this afternoon but this morning I started to get worried that they would arrive to late to get my run in this week.

I located a running store a few blocks away and picked up another pair of running shoes. Why get shoes right now?? It is supposed to start raining tomorrow afternoon and keep raining for at least a couple of days.

Then I realized I forgot to pack my running bra - the woman at the running store mentioned a big Nike store a few streets over.

Hello happiness:

The store was huge!

It was at least 4 floors -

And here is a travel tip for any runners out there who are well-endowed and running without a good bra (as in these babies need to be really locked down or there will be no running possible) -

I knew it was a slim possibility to find the body-armor-type running bra I usually wear so I got what Nike labels as a 'high impact bra' (it is soooo NOT) and grabbed a regular shelf running bra in one size too small.

I will wear both of them and it should be good makeshift super supportive running bra solution.

And I have to say that Asics shoe colors just keep getting worse and worse. Check it out:

It looks like they couldn't decide on just one color and they decided to pick ALL of the fluorescent colors

On the way back to the hotel I stopped in here for a sandwich:

After a short rest, I caught a taxi to the American Museum of Natural History.

My favorite part of this museum are the dioramas.

Then I took a long walk back to the hotel through Central Park.

The water was this bizarre shade of green - eww.

I strolled by this great big open meadow.

I am off to dinner at a cool Parisian style restaurant near the hotel (at least I hope it will be cool:-)).

*Fingers crossed* that the pictures I take at dinner actually come out.

Night all!

Classic turkey bagel sandwich

Turkey bagel sandwich.
Today was a wonderful Sunday morning. I went for my second run!

I have been driving myself and the dogs crazy with my rush to get things done before my trip.

This morning I woke up and while I was taking a shower Connor pulled my running shoes out of the closet (he just has to drag them across the floor) and (this is the kicker) he grabbed my running hat off the table in the living room and placed it on top of the shoes.

Think he was trying to tell me something??

So, I put on my shoes and hat - all the while grumbling that this was a pointless effort and headed out the door.

I ended up run/walking 2 glorious miles! And Connor makes a great running buddy because his default trotting speed is a steady 10min mile pace.

Abby is usually trotting behind me making it very clear that she feels it is insane to do any kind of running.

And post run? I think it has been the only time I have been relaxed in the last few days. Good job Connor!!

I was starving after my (albeit short) run so I headed over to a bagel place. Sunday morning = bagels in my head.

I ordered what I think is a classic - turkey bagel sandwich.

Turkey bagel sandwich with a large coffee.

I love the ratio of meat to veggies. It is the opposite of what most people want (usually tons of meat) but it is just the way I like it.

My feet are feeling really great after the run which is a really good sign. I was so hoping for at least a couple of runs in Central Park when I am in NYC - now it looks like I just might be able to do it:-)

Kinda sad that my big thrill about being in NYC is doing my run in Central Park, lol.

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!
