Chili cook-off

A bit part of my Sunday was spent at the Pacifica Chili cook-off.

Pacifica is a beautiful seaside town and chili cook-off was held in this quaint building.

There were dozens of chilies to try, lots of friendly people and even jugglers on stilts.

My favorite was the Tri-tip chili.

Vegetarian chili.

There were lots of bowls that were scraped clean.

We didn't stay to hear them announce the winners but I heard from another friend who did stay that my second choice chili won.

And on the way outside we spotted - llamas!

Although people at the cook-off said there was more than one llama in the pen, I could only find the one.

Until I got home and started looking through my pictures and spotted this one:

Aha! there is the second one way in the back.

All in all it was the chili cook-off was a perfect way to end a great weekend.

Happy Monday everyone!

Buffalo chili

So, I went to the store and all I could think about was turkey chili.

But then I saw what amounts to seeing a Passenger pigeon in the middle of Safeway. Something you think is extinct and you will never see again.

Antibiotic free, hormone free ground bison.
And the plan got changed.

Bison chili it would be.

And it all started with a pot of beans.

Then queue the bit players.

I would include a recipe but you can find a billion recipes for chili on any internet search and they are all essentially the same and everyone tweaks them to their tastes.

And it is Friday and I am feeling lazy.

The whole batch simmered for an hour and was incredibly delicious.

A dollop of greek yogurt and fresh chopped cilantro.

I am very full and it is getting late. I think all I will have for dinner is some flavored popcorn with a movie on TV.

Happy Friday everyone! Night all!

A sunny dinner

I didn't want to dirty the kitchen I had just cleaned so dinner was straight out of the can.

Canned chili with Greek yogurt and Sun chips for dipping.

This drink was a really nice compliment to the chili.

I am hoping it doesn't rain tonight. They still haven't finished fixing the overhang and when it rains - the water pours down my patio doors - Not a good thing methinks..
