Tempeh Sloppy Joe

This was my first try at using tempeh as a meat alternative.

I know a lot of people love tempeh - I see people putting them in sandwiches all the time.

But I wanted to ease my way into the whole tempeh experience.

I made a regular sloppy joe mix (tomatoes, ketchup, red and yellow peppers, onion, garlic and Worcestershire sauce) and crumbled the tempeh into the sauce.

While the sandwich looked pretty I am not a big fan of the texture of the tempeh and it did not pick up the flavor of the sauce the way tofu would.

At this point I am completely perplexed by people eating big slabs of this stuff in sandwiches.

Maybe it is an acquired taste??
